How do your ambient products keep such a long shelf life? Do your products contain preservatives?

It's the packaging that gives our ambient products their long shelf life, so our products do not contain preservatives.

Our ambient cartons contain an inner seal and layers of cardboard, aluminium and plastic film, and this increases the shelf life of the product to one year when stored unopened at room temperature.

On the other hand, our chilled cartons do not contain an inner seal, and the layers are only made up of cardboard and plastic, so our chilled range has a shorter lifespan because of this.

  • So would it be better to get a long life one and store it in the fridge? Or is there a difference of taste between the two variants?

  • Hi Mo,

    Thanks for your question.

It entirely depends which of our oat drink suits your needs better, our long life drinks do not need to be refrigerated until opened and have a longer shelf life. Where as our chilled drinks are found in the refrigerated section of the supermarket and need to be kept in the fridge after purchase.

The differing tastes in the products comes down to the varying fat contents. Our chilled range consists of our skinny, semi and whole oat drinks. These all contain our acidity regulator which means they go great with tea and coffee. We have recently also launched our chilled organic oat drink here in the UK, this one however does not contain the acidity regulator (owing to EU organic legislation) and so does not perform well in tea and coffee.

Our long life products include our original oat drink, our barista (designed to work amazingly in coffee) and our organic oat drink.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.

    All the best,
    Katie
