Why did you choose rapeseed oil?

Rapeseed oil is recommended as a healthy oil in dietary guidelines and scientific evidence concludes that healthy fats (which are low in saturated fats but rich in unsaturated fats) from foods such as vegetable oils and nuts definitely have a place within a balanced diet.

Rapeseed oil has an excellent fat composition, with more unsaturated fats and less saturated fats than most other plant-based oils, and it’s also higher in omega-3 fatty acids than most other plant-based oils (with the exception of flax oil). On top of this, it has a neutral flavour that lets the flavour of our oats shine.

Therefore overall, we think rapeseed oil is the plant-based oil that best enables us to deliver on our values related to health, sustainability, and product quality and taste.

The type of oil we use hot pressed and free from oxidising substances such as heavy metals and particles that are degrading. It's a purer oil with a consistent taste from batch to batch. This contrasts with the cold pressed oil which is less consistent in taste, not as pure and has a shorter shelf life. The hot pressed rapeseed oil is heated to 100 degrees Celsius and no chemicals are used in the process.

To give you an idea of how much oil is in our drinks, as is stated in the list of ingredients of our Whole it is 2,8 g fat/100 ml. Of these 2,8 grams 0,5 grams are fat naturally occurring in the oats. The rest is from added rapeseed oil meaning that in 100 ml of oat drink there are 2,3 grams added rapeseed oil. To a full litre of oat drink Whole this adds up to 23 grams rapeseed oil.
