Your oats

What do you do with the oats from your production process? General query once you’ve made the milk. Cheers

  • Hey Beth,

Thanks so much for your query!

The residue or “oat pulp” leftover from the production process is handled differently depending on the specific market - tailoring it to what works for each in terms of sustainability; at our production site based in the Netherlands, we use it for biogas production, and same goes for our site in Sweden, however in Sweden it is also turned into animal feed. At our North American sites we send the residue to food waste recycling companies, where it becomes biogas/bio-based fertilisers.

We are looking into the possibility of creating oatsome food products out of the residue, and even having our own biogas facilities at our sites. Unfortunately I cannot go into more detail about this, but we have come a long way and we’ll soon have some exciting announcements to make!

    Really hope this helps!

    All the best,
    Rachael
  • Great, really interesting and thanks for taking the time to reply. My friend and I were discussing how much we love your product and it came up in discussion. The fact that I could ask and receive a reply, is brilliant. Cheers
Good luck with the product development 😀
